  FAQs For MSNTV Emails
1 - Where Do I Put The Html Codes To Have Graphics And Sound In My E-mails ?

You can write your codes in the body of your e-mail, right where you type any other e-mail you may be sending out. If you choose do it this way, the HTML code will only be good for that one e-mail only.

A better place to put your codes is in your signature box. This is located in your e-mail "SETTINGS".

When the codes are written in the signature box, they will go out with every e-mail you send. The code will stay in your signature box for as long as you would like. From there you code can be edited.

2 - How Do I Put A Background In My E-mail, To Cover The Entire E-mail In A Background ?

The code to use for MSNTV to cover the entire e-mail with a background and colored email text is:

The text color will effect the message part, including the headers.

<body background="http://background URL here" text="blue">

Note: Make sure you close this tag with </body>

You can also have a soild color as a background with colored email text.

<body bgcolor="green" text="white">

Make sure you close this tag with </body>

Note: Always send an email to yourself to test this background.

3 -Can I Change The Text Color In Body Of My E-Mail ?

Yes, you can.

You can either color the text using the full email background code with colored text (above) or do it in each email sent out.

This Will Only Be Good For That One Email.

Images Can Also Be Typed In This Mannor.

Try This Sample Code In A Message:

<html>
<font color="your color here">
Write your e-mail message here.
</font>
</html>

4 - Things To Check In Your Signature Box If Your Code Isn't Working.

Check to make sure your code is placed as high as it can go in the signature box. The tag <html> must be the very first thing in the box, nothing can come before it, not a blank space, or a blank line or text of any form.

Here are a few common mistakes that are made:

1 - In the tag <img src= a common mistake is writing scr and not src.

2 - Also img and src are separated by a blank space. DO NOT write <imgsrc= THIS IS WRONG.

3 - In the tag <bgsound src= a common mistake is breaking up the word bgsound. DO NOT write <bg sound src= THIS IS WRONG

4 - In the tags <html> and </html> check that the letters are in the order as you see here. Also the last letter in <html> and </html> is a small letter L.

5 - Another common mistake is the over use of the tags <html> and </html>

There is only one <html> tag at the very beginning to start your code and one </html> at the very end to stop your code.

This is true, no matter how many gifs, sound or text you may have in your entire code.

NEVER put more than one of each of <html> or </html> into your whole code.

Also check to make sure your using the correct quotation marks. The correct one to use in HTML coding is the quotation mark that is located to the left of the " return " button when holding down the shift key.

5 - Why Do I Only See A "Black Box" Where My Image Should Be In My E-mail ? Or Why Doesn't My Sound Play ?

A few things to check when this happens is:

1 - When your typing in the address for the image or sound make sure you DO NOT hit the "return" button if the address is too long to fit on the line. Just keep on typing and let the address "flow" onto the next line. Hitting the "return" button breaks up the address.

2 - Second thing to check is the image or sound address itself. Many times there is an error made typing in the address itself.

3 - Check to make sure you are NOT using any alternate symbols in your code. These would be alternate symbols © ® ™ ¿. These are create when you hold down the alt key when your typing. These symbols will mess up your whole code.

4 - Check to make sure your image address has quotation marks around it. For example <img src="the image address"> or <bgsound src="the song address">

5 - Lastly, make sure the image or sound is an image or sound you can remote link to. Many of the free web page hosts have blocked all remote linking to images and sounds.

Again the quotation marks used must be the one that is located to the left of the "return" button when holding down the shift key.

6 - Can Computer's See The Graphics In Our E-mails?

Computers that use Netscape 4.0+ or Internet Explorer 4.0+ to read their e-mails can see our graphics and hear our sounds.

Note: AOL (and many other email systems) can NOT see graphics or hear sounds in their emails (many times they will only get a "black" email and can not read it). Many email programs are text only (no html can be seen). Have your friends who can not see your html emails get a free Hotmail account, Hotmail can see graphics and hear sounds. Or email them by removing your html MSNTV signature (there is a button in your emails to do this).

7 - How Much HTML Stuff Can I Put In My E-Mail Signature Box ?

You can add as many gifs and jpg images as you like to your signature box. Just remember, the more you have the longer it take to load. Don't go building a whole web page in your signature box. Also remember, never use more than one <html> or one </html> per total signature. These tags work like on and off switches, so don't keep shutting your html code on and off.

8 - Why Has The Animation Stopped In My Gif ?

Most of the time when this happens you have added a scrolling marquee. The scrolling marquee can slow down or stop the animation in your gif. Here is one thing you can try to fix this. Try adding a few <br> tags in between your gif and marquee. This may help in some cases.

9 - How Can I Link To A Song On Another Page ?

It is very easy to find out the address to link to another song or sound off any page. As long as you can click on a song or sound, you can obtain the address to it. (make sure you are allowed to link to their sounds, you will be using their bandwidth in which they must have to pay for).

Here is how to do this.

Go to the page and click on the song or sound and play it. Now on your MSNTV keyboard hit "goto". Then in the pop up box, hit "show last". Since the song or sound was the last thing you did, it will give you the address to link to. You may need to scroll the cursor though the address box to see the whole thing.

Again, make sure the sound is an sound you can remote link to. Many of the free web page hosts have blocked all remote linking to sounds.

10 - How Do I Make A Clickable To My Email ?

This is how to make text or an image clickable to send you an email.

For Clickable Text:

<a href="mailto:yourname@MSNTV.net">yourname@webtv.net</a>

For A Clickable Image:

<a href="mailto:yourname@webtv.net">
